Put Me In Charge

This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX  Nov 18, 2010

Put me in charge...

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards...; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?

You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.."

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Opinion ~~~~~~~~~~~~
                The above article is RIGHT ON!!!
   When I was newly married in 1971, we bought 5-10 lbs flour, rice, sugar, noodles, potatoes, hugh containters of Peanut Butter, blocks of cheese,  fresh veggies, whole chickens (you cut them into pieces yourself) etc. We used cloth diapers, and didn't fill the land fills with plastic. We actually cooked from scratch, not pre-packaged foods, but real wholesome food.
   Those on EBT "Welfare Food Stamp program" should be required to buy in bulk and provide meals cooked and NOT already packaged.
   When I was working, nothing chaped my hind more then to be at work (on my feet and dealing with customers / the public, nice and not so nice) in a "bakery/deli" and have someone call and ask if they can use the EBT card, my blood would boil, the bakery/deli was a luxury, not something to spend your children's food stamp money on, I was and still am thrilled to say NO we don't accept EBT ("food stamp cards") and I will boycot any asstablishment of this type that does accept "food stamp cards"..
If you want to enjoy this type of luxury, get a job, then you can afford it.
   I don't mind the Goverment helping those less fortunate, or those going through tough times, (we've all been in tough times at one point in our lives or another), I am glad they use my tax dollars to help our people in the "USA only", but, I also believe we should DEMAND drug test before allowing anyone to collect from our assistance, that includes but it's not limited to disability & SS benifits.
   If drug's, alcohol or ciggarettes are found, they should be dis-quilified for assistance, they can get a job and afford these luxury's.
   I also feel drug test should be done "without notice" durning the duration of anyone who is  on Gov. assistance.
   I also feel once accepted for Gov. assistance, you should have to keep ALL recipts for spending and turn them in to qualify for your next check, (no "official" recipts, no check) so the Gov. can see exactly where those tax dollars are being spendt, You must account for every peney you recieve and spend from Gov. assistance.
   I think if anyone comes in with tatoo's, & or body piercing,  photo's hould be taken of them and put in their files, if any new ones appear, they should be removed from assistance, If they can afford tattoos & piercings, they can afford to get a job and enjoy this type of luxury.
   I also believe Gov. assistance should be for a limited amount of time. Maybe 6 mo - 2 yrs with job training and placement.
   In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you.
   Those who are craving marijuana for medical use, should have to go into the Dr's office and smoke their weed under his/her supervision, stay in the office for an hour after they have smoked their pot, before getting on the road and indangering the lives of the rest of us.
And thats the end of my ranting for today...JMSQ 11/11/2011
