                           {JMSQ's} My Simple Gnome Pattern


We leave Gnomes everywhere we travel. I make them in all color combinations. Aug. 14th 2010 we left the traditional colored gnome (M) in Silon Springs at the hotel we stayed at, then on the 16th we left the multi colored Blue (R) in Eureka Springs at the hotel we stayed at. The Green one (L) my Sister Stacy is enjoying. We love to leave them with a note of thanks for the wonderful stay and clean room along with a tip for the house keeper.  I often wonder what they think when they find them. I also tell them to have fun with their gnome traveling & that they love having their photo's taking along with their new owners...smile

Skill Level: Easy & Fun


Size G (US) crochet hook. Two 6 mm safety eyes. Polyfill for filling.

You need 3 colors for your Gnome.
color #1 for your hat
color #2 white for face & beard
color #3 for body

For a traditional colored gnome, you would use red for the hat, white for face & beard & blue for the body, BUT, this is your gnome so make it whatever color you like best.


Stitches Used:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
inc = increase
sl st = slip stitch
sts = stitches

NOTE:
Do NOT Join, use a marker to keep count of your rows

Gnome Pattern:
With color #1 (Hat color)

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook,

Round 2: Sc 6 (6 sts)

Round 3: inc, sc 1; repeat 3 times (9 sts)

Round 4: Sc 9

Round 5: inc, sc 2; repeat 3 times (12 sts)

Round 6: Sc 12

Round 7: inc, sc 3; repeat 3 times (15 sts)

Round 8: Sc 15

Round 9: inc, sc 4; repeat 3 times (18 sts)

Round 10: Sc 18

Round 11: inc, sc 5; repeat 3 times (21 sts)

Round 12: Sc 21

Round 13: inc, sc 6; repeat 3 times (24 sts). Change to white color #2 (face) yarn.

Round 14: Sc 24

Round 15: inc, sc 7; repeat 3 times (27 sts)

Round 16: Sc 27

Round 17: inc, sc 8; repeat 3 times (30 sts). Change to color #3 (Body) yarn.

Round 18: Sc 30

Round 19: inc, sc 9; repeat 3 times (33 sts)

Round 20: Sc 33

Round 21: inc, sc 10; repeat 3 times (36 sts)

Round 22: Sc 36

Round 23: inc, sc 11; repeat 3 times (39 sts)

Round 24: sc all around (39 sts). Sl st in next st; fasten off.


Make Face:
Attach eyes. Attach eyes to between rows 6 & 7  (look at photo above to place eyes)


Gnome Bottom:
Attach color #3 (body color)
Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sts)

Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sts)

Round 3: inc, sc 1; repeat 6 times (18 sts)

Round 4: inc, sc 2; repeat 6 times (24 sts)

Round 5: inc, sc 3; repeat 6 times (30 sts)

Round 6: inc, sc 4; repeat 6 times (36 sts)

Round 7: inc, sc 5, inc, sc 5, sc 6, inc, sc 6, sc 5, sc 6 (39 sts). Sl st in next st;
fasten off. Leave LONG tail to sew the bottom of gnome to top of gnome


Sew bottom to gnome body (matching stitch for stitch) about 2/3 of way around.
Stuff firmly with polyfil. Finish sewing around and fasten off.

Beard: Cut 8 - 6" strands of white yarn, following photo, attach beard yarn (like you would fringe) between rows 7 & amp; 8 (as in photo above). I place 2 x 2 strands in middle between eyes, and 2 on each side of eyes. slowly un-twist yarn, now you have 4 single curly yarns that create a natural looking beard.. enjoy

Ronnie's New Tattoo

Koffee Time - My Girls Only Date with Rhonda

Yesterday (Wednesday 8/25/10) My Precious Daughter Rhonda came by and picked me up and she & JesseAnne (Rhonda's Daughter - Our Granddaughter) went to Lunch at Western Sizzlin (BEST SALAD bar in Harrison). Jesse  went home to study, and Rhonda & I went to Branson.

Our first show was at 1pm, we went to  the "Fountains of Faith" Gospel Show At Waltzing Waters Theater, Branson MO. and enjoyed Tucker and Susan Hudson-Carman show. Oh how I loved listening to them sing and enjoyed the water show behind them.. AWESOME time.  I Highly reccomend going to see their show if your ever in Branson.

I was also Blessed to buy some CD's and enjoyed listening to them on our drive back to Harrison.. Thank You to both to Susan & Tucker for brightening my day and also for Blessing our Beautiful Daughter with both your Friendship, Love & Kindness.

Then Rhonda & I went to Cold Stone and enjoyed a dish of ice Cream, YUMMY

After this, we went to RKO or RTO theatre and enjoyed an American Indian show. (I can't remember the official name of it) but it was another great show. Full of music, dancing and a story line. Good time by all that were there.

It's now 5pm and were heading for home, but I have one of my brain storm idea's, so we discussed it and I called Ron and told him we'd be home in 1/2 hr, have coffee and we'd go out to dinner. Then we called JesseAnne and had her meet us and we'd all go together. We did, and you guessed it, we went out to Western Sizzlin again for dinner. I'm telling you, They have the the best Salad Bar in Harrison and the rest of their food is good as well.

After such a wonderful day out with our daughter I hated to end our fun, but we did call it a night, gave lots of HUGS & KISS'es and am still smiling over our wonderful Mother/Daughter date in Branson.

Thank You Lord for Blessing me with such a Wonderful Thoughtful Daughter. I'm ever so Thankful & Grateful for her, our Rhonda. She has a heart of Gold, She's our Bright Mourning Star, and she lights up the lives of everyone she comes in contact with, and goes the extra mile to help others. How BLESSED we are that YOU LORD gave her to us to Brighten our Heart's & Lives. I Love spending time with Rhonda,  just be together, How Blessed we are..AMEN

Knitted Single Cross & Reverse Cross

Size 7 Knitting needles
Cast on 37 stitches.

1-4) Knit across

5.) k4, p29, k4

6.)(and all remaining even numbered rows) knit across

35 - 39) k4, p8, k13, p8, k4

2 FINISHING OPTIONS:

#1 Knitting Only - Bind off, weave in ends

#2 Bind off loosly to last stitch, SWITCH to CROCHET hook, ch 1, 3 sc in same stitch. *1 sc in each stitch, 3 sc in corner around *Repeat, finish off.

TRIM:
Switch colors, attach to center stitch in any corner, ch 1 sc in same stitch, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st, * ch 1, skip next stitch, sc in next st. *Repeat around, finish off

What better way to honor our Lord then to create a Prayer cloth with His love & Prayers to remind us always of the ultimate Love He gave for us.

I’ve created this Prayer cloth with the Cross filled with X’s & O’s {Universal sign for Hugs & Kisses} and am pleased to share this with you.


Prayer Cloths are Scriptural, {Acts 19:12} “Some people took handkerchiefs and clothes that Paul had used and put them on the sick. When they did this, the sick were healed and evil spirits left them.” (NCV) {I like the NIV & KJV as well}


SPECIAL STITCH: X ‘s & O’s Stitch:
ch 1, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next, then work 1 dc “BEHIND” dc you just worked and into the front of prev. st, ch 1, skip next dc

Row 1: Ch 28, 1 sc in second ch from hook, & in remaining ch’s., ch 2 and turn

Fan & Feather Face Towel (Knitting)

FACE TOWEL
Materials: 1 cone of cotton yarn, Size 7 knitting needles.

Instructions: Cast on 78 stitches

Knit 3 rows of garter stitch for the border.

Row 4: Knit

Row 5: K 3, P to last 3 stitches K3

Row 6: K3, (K2 tog) 3 times, *(yo, K1) 6 times, (K2 tog) 6 times, rep from *(2 more times),(yo, K1) 6 times, (K2 tog) 3 times, to last 3 sts, K3

Row 7: Purl

Repeat Rows 4 - 7, keeping first and last 3 stitches in garter stitch, until piece measures desired length.
{NOTE:}
I work a total of (24) repeats of the 4-row pattern for a total of 96 rows, PLUS garter stitch rows at the beginning and end..

Knit 3 more rows of garter stitch to make the bottom border.

Cast off and darn in ends

Adult Hat with Ribbed Brim

                                      Dedicated to "ALL" of our Q-family,
                Ron, Rhonda, Ronnie & Lance as well as "ALL" our Grandchildren.

This is another of my old (1989/90) patterns. It's truly easy and works up quickly.

Materials:

I Hook

SPECIAL STITCHES: {For Brim} FPHDC & BPHDC

These stitches are done with hdc, by working around the post of each stitch in the row below. Here's how:

Front Post Stitch: yo (yarn over) your hook; starting from the front, place hook from front to back to front around the post of st (stitch) in row below; complete as a hdc (half double crochet).

And the back post stitch is just an opposite of that ...

Back Post Stitch: yo, starting from the back, place hook from back to front to back around post of st in row below; complete as a hdc.

Directions:

Ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring

Row 1) ch 2, work 11 hdc in ring (12 hdc)

Row 2) ch 2, hdc in same st as ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around (24 hdc)

Row 3) Ch 2, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st *Repeat Around (36 hdc)

Row 4) ch 2, * hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st. *Repeat around (48 hdc)

Row 5) ch 2, * hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st. *repeat around. (60 hdc )

Row 6) ch 2, * hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st. * Repeat around. (72 hdc)

{If your count is different then 72 sts, continue with increase until you have 72 sts}

Row 7 - 19) ch 2, hdc in each st around, attach to top of ch 2. Do NOT Fasten off after Row 19
Rib BRIM:
Row 20: ch 2, {fphdc in next st, bphdc in next) around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2.

Rows 21-25) Repeat row 20. At end of Row 25, fasten off.

NOTE:
I change colors for a different colored brim after row 17 and then continue with pattern as written above.

For larger hats, use larger hook, for wider brim, add a few extra rows of Row 20, for smaller hat use smaller hood

Oat Bran Muffins

2 1/2 c. oat bran cereal (or any all grain cereal)
I use Bob's Red Mill 100% Whole Grain, cereal  $3.49 (1 Lb 8 0z) bag
10 Grain Hot Cereal. The grains are: Wheat, Rye, Triticale, Oats & Oat bran, Corn,  Barley, Soybeans, Brown Rice, Millet, & Flaxseed {Heart-Healthy}

1/4 to 1/2 c. chopped nuts (I use pecans, but reguar walnuts would  be good)

1/4 to 1/2 c. dried fruit (I use raisins & cranberries)

1 TBS. baking powder

1/4 c. honey or molasses (I use Sorghum)

1 1/4 c. milk

2 eggs

2 TBS veg. oil (I use a mashed banana)

350 degrees, spray muffin tin with Pam cooking spray or us muffin papers
mix all together, bake 15 to 20 min

NOTE:
There is no presertives so you must keep in your refergator or freeze them. I freeze mine and we take them out as wanted for breakfast.

Also for normal muffin pan, this recipe will make 12, BECAUSE I use a "muffin TOP" pan, I usually get 15 or 16 at a time and they are BIG.

Come-on now, you know when you eat a muffin it's ALWAYS to TOP you eat first, right, well my Precious Mom found in some catalog called Muffin TOPS ONLY pan and she bought all of the women in our family one. We love and use our always. It's the greatest invention sence an electric coffee maker

Well I'm going to work on getting more patterns on this BLOG by the end of the month, because next month I want to focus more on weight-loss and the struggle I go through daily trying to get this excuss weight off.

Well look what I found today in our thrift stores, you guessed it, 6 more trolls to add to my already growing collection. I've been collecting trolls sence I was 13 yrs old, so yes I have some good old ones. and a beautiful big flower pot

The troll on the left in front with bright pink hair I got also at the Junction earliet this month, so it's been a great month for Troll Rescue.

I can go into thrift stores, & Antique stores for months in a row and never find any trolls, then like the blink of an eye, there they are just waiting for me to come get them. Hope you enjoy them as much as I'm enjoying sharing them with you..Jean

3 Job's Tear Necklaces (Aunt Lois, Rhonda, & Stacy)

Made from Job's Tears beads that Ron grows for me & Flower beads we bought in Eureka Springs from the Cresent Bead Store.

{Rhonda's Turtle Necklace}

Rhonda's necklace was also made from Jobs Tear Beads that Ron grows for me, and the green turtle beads as well as the gold turtle we bought in Eureks Springs at the Cresent Bead Store. We also made her a pair of matching earings to match the necklace.

Stacy's necklace was also made from Job's Tear beads Ron grows for me, However, her frogs came from Micheals in Branson Mo.. The blue beads I had in my bead stash and just used them to bring out the frogs.

NOTE:

About Micheals, they have a lovely supply of beads to choose from. The only problem is they have a display that holds their small charms in it  goes down litterly to the floor. So middle aged women who like myself that wear bi-focals can't see have to bend over and serch for their charms nearly on their head. No I won't be going back to Micheals to buy any more bead supplies.

 I will  go to Eureka Springs to the "Cresent Bead Store" where all their beads and supplies are at eye level for you to not only see but enjoy. They are very helpful as well and have everything you could possable need for beading

Easy Big Man's Crochet Sweater (Ron)

This pattern is over 3 yrs old. I ran across it while cleaning out my computer. I decided to share it because it hard to find a "Simple" Crochet Sweater Pattern for "Big Men" I hope you enjoy creating this Sweater & Blessings the men in your life...God Bless..{JMSQ}

Size I hook & Chunky yarn -{or}-
Size J or K & WW yarn

NOTE:
The sweater in photo is made of Redheart varagated WW Yarn & J hook- My DH has a big tummy, so my next sweater will be made with K hook for body & J hook for sleeves.- This sweater is great for BIG / Tall Men with long arms...{JMSQ 2005}

FRONT:
Ch 10, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 hdc)

ch 2, turn hdc in the back loop of each st across. (ch 2 counts as 1 hdc) *REPEAT last row until 43 rows of ribbing are complete*.

ch 1, turn and work 72 sc across length of ribbing.

Continue working rows of sc, increasing one st on each end of every 8th row to 84 sts.

Work even until measures 25" from beginning of ribbing.


NECK SHAPPING:

Butterfly Hats & Matching Scarf

                  This is a combination of 2 hat patterns PLUS my X's & O's Jan.2010


This is a very simple hat and very quick to make. Using a I hook and worsted weight yarn, I used red heart, and it fits a 20 1/2 inch head very nicely. Very easily adjustible by either adding increase rows or taking away.


Rnd 1) ch3, 11dc in 3rd ch from hook (11dc) sl st to top of first dc (now and through out),(12 sts)

Rnd 2) ch2, (does not count as dc now and through out) 2dc in each st around, sl st to top of first dc (24 sts)

Qunique Cell Phone Cozy

Koffee Time - Our Pets, Our Babies, Our Dogs

So you guessed it, this is my feelngs about our most loved pets, "DOGS"
We have 2 dogs ourselves, (We have 12 yr old Murphy & 3 yr old Snickers) they are my companions, my babies, they give me reason to get up everyday, I feed them walk them, love and baby then, & spoil them. They let me know when things arn't right, when there is a strange noise outside, etc. so why am I writing about my dogs today?? It's time I also pointed a finger to the other side of my babies / my doggies.

Dogs also wash themselves, they lick their butts, their private parts, dogs are also known to stick their noises in eachothers butts to get a good sniff. They will lick their own soars, your soars, they will also lick eachothers soars,  eat trash, road kill, maggic infested food, walk in their own waste. [some dogs will even eat their own waste] You guessed it, they will even vomit and return to lick it up (this is in the Bible, read it for yourself, Proverbs 26:11 & 2 Peter 2:22), [get this, something made them sick enough to vomit and then they in turn will lick it back up and eat it] Did someome say GROSS - YUK

WHY after reading the above would anyone allow their dogs / babies lick their faces & or hands, giving kisses? "IT'S NASTY" discusting, gross, vial. Dogs are just that, DOGS, not people and they should NEVER lick on your hands or face, EVER. Spreading germs and you lovingly spread them to eachother, and your children & grandchildren all because you allow your so called baby to lick your hands and face. This is beyond GROSS

I love my dogs as I've said before, I cuddle them and spoil them rotten. They bring me such joy and comfort; But, NEVER - EVER- would I allow them to lick me or my loved ones. Sometimes I feel Snickers barely touching my lower back leg after I come out of the shower with a gently slight lick (butterfly kiss), but then he's gone like a flash, why because he knows this is not acceptable in our home.. Period

I knew a woman years ago that would say to her dog, come give momma a kiss, her dog would jump up into her lap and she would open her lips and the dog licked inside her mouth, I have to tell you, I was SICK, and nearly vomited

So there you have it, my feeling on dogs licking their owners faces & hands. I hope you will re-think before allowing your precious little dog type friend to lick or wash your face & hands;

PLEASE never allow your little friend to eat off your dishes, this also is GROSS. Your dishes are for people, and our Loving pets have "their own" bowls. My Mother says well your just being silly, I wash all the dishes (by hand), I say NO It's NASTY.  Dogs have their dishes, and people have their dishes, and the twine shall not mix...Period

Koffee Time - Ron & Jean's Mini Vacation

Ron & I had such a lovely "Mini Vacation". We went to Silom Springs on Saturday, spendt the night, then about noon or so, we drove to Eureka Springs and check into our room there.

We stayed @ the Best Western (Inn of the Ozarks) hotel. This hotel had everything you could want. A Great resturant, Key word GREAT; Pool, simi private balcony, game room which included pool, miniture golf, shuffle board, games for kids, etd. At the pool was a wonderful waterfall, then at night there was an out-door movie to enjoy. Ron & I were the only ones in the pool, then the movie started and before we knew it there were oh 1/2 dz kids swimming with their parents and the watching the movie (quietly I might add) and so many others sitting at the tables just enjoying to souroundings and moment. We had such a fun night Sunday.

We road the trolly (which had a stop right in front of our hotel) downtown and enjoy our walk, shopping and YES you guessed it "PEOPLE WATCHING". There are some strange looking people in Eureka Springs if I do say so myself (poking fun at only ourselves). Honestly however, I think it's more of a 60's type place, everywhere you went incence burning, crystals, tye-dyed clothing, jewerly, etc. like they might be stuck in the 60's / 70's. There were also some well to do places, and wonderful art work to enjoy. I loved the old buildings, and the smell of the woods, soft breeze everywhere.

On Monday Ron & I went down to the Healing Springs, and I stuck my poor hurting (arthritis) feet into the springs . NO they are not healed but I had a great time and the spring water was so COLD, I flashed back to the titanic thinking of how quickly thermia must have effectived those poor folks and I could take my feet out of the cold anytime I wanted. Funny how that popped into my mind.

Then we went into an OLD fashioned Ice Cream Palor and had great Ice Cream. The decor was in old time coke, everything was coke right down to serving coke in bottles. Neat to see this, Ron took a few photos in here as well

After this we went to the Christ of the Ozarks statue. It's always so peaceful and relaxing there. We so enjoy walking down to the statue. You can see some wear and tear from weather on this mighty statue, but it's still an AWEEEEEEEEEEEEE experience. I highly reccomend it to everyone

Hated to come home after such a wonderful weekend alone with my Sweet Beloved Ron. I so enjoy just Ron & Jean time, just the 2 of us enjoying God's beauty everywhere we look.

OH the most important thing of all, My Sweety celebrated his ( I'm not telling you ) Birthday yesterday. Another mile stone to add to our collection.

Anawim Pot-Holder (Mom & Dad Sampson)

                  Created in memory of my parents "Duke & JoAnn Sampson"

The word Anawim (pronounced 'on-a-whim' or An-a wheem ) is Hebrew which has been translated as meaning poor, afflicted, humble or meek. They are the “faithful remnants” who, even in the worst of times find their security in the Creator. Indeed, the Anawim are all of us!

Choose the pattern of your choice {Knit or Crochet}, and use up all the left over yarn you have as you create a unique colored Pot-Holders filled with the rainbow of colors as in Joseph's coat, & filled with your beloved prayers



My {JMSQ} Anawim Pot-Holder Pattern

J Hook     {Always work with 2 strands of yarn together;
** NOTE **
ALL pattern is worked with sts being done in "BACK LOOP" of each st.}

Ch 10, join with a sl st to form a ring, ch 2, (counts as hdc this row only) 1 hdc in of next 2 ch’s. 3 hds in next ch, 1 hdc in each of next 3 ch’s, (9 hdc’s total) ch 2 & turn.

1 Hdc in each of next 4 sts, 3 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in each of next 4 sts, ch 3, & turn (11 hdc’s total)

1 hdc in each of next 5 sts, 3 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, ch 3 & turn.

REPEAT pattern (increasing every row) until potholder gets as big as you want. (I make mine 20 to 22 rows because Ron like big pot-holders and I also use mine on the table to set hot dishes on while were enjoying our dinner)

                                              {Just a small White Cross}



When driving to, from, and through Frankenmuth, Michigan, I'm always
intrigued with the many small simple crosses in the front yards of the
homes we pass by.

Those crosses are a statement of support for Frankenmuth's Christian foundation.

Two years ago an atheist living there complained about two crosses on a bridge in town. He requested that they be removed and the town removed them. He then decided that, since he was so successful with that, the city shield should also be changed since it had on it, along with other symbols, a heart with a cross inside signifying the city's
Lutheran beginnings.

At that point, the residents decided they had had enough. Hundreds of residents made their opinions known by placing small crosses in their front yards. Seeing this quiet but powerful statement from the community, the man removed his complaint. Those simple crosses remain in those front yards today.

After passing those crosses for two years, it finally hit me that a small cross in millions of front yards across our country could provide a powerful and inspiring message for all Americans passing them every day. I think it might be time to take this idea across America.

We have an administration that says "we are not a Christian nation" and everywhere you look the ACLU and others are trying to remove from our history and current lives any reference to God, prayer, or the fact that our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

Our administration can't bring themselves to talk about "radical Muslims or Islamic terrorists" for fear of offending them, but they can talk about Americans "clinging to their guns and their religion", or insinuate that our own military troops coming home from service overseas might turn into terrorists.

The majority of Americans are Christians, why are we letting this happen to us?

It's time to stand up and make a statement..a small, quiet, but powerful statement. If you agree, place a small white cross in your front yard or garden for all to see that they are not alone. It would be a beautiful thing to see crosses all across America.

God has richly blessed America but America is falling short of returning thanks for it...we can help to change that.

Excellent, excellent, excellent idea. And we can go another step further. Since the media have been ordered not to wear flag lapel pins because the president has declared them offensive to some, everyone could wear a flag pin on their hat or lapel.

Do not be afraid to let others know where you stand and what you believe.

Round Ripple Bedspread crochet

                 ROUND RIPPLE Queen Size BED-SPREAD - PATTERN

This is my "ALL" time favorite Round Ripple Pattern. I've made several Bedspreads from this pattern, However this is "NOT" one of my {JMSQ} patterns.....


The above photo is a "Queen size Round Ripple Bedspread" I made for a "Wedding Gift" for "Carlin & Hadessa Beiler in the Fall 2006. I won 1st place in the county fair & Best of show - I also won 1st place in the district fair for this bedspread.  I carefully placed X's & O's sts around this Bedspread as a reminder of God Grand Love for them...My family is truly proud... JMSQ

The original pattern is from Lynn {~Lyn's Designs~www.angelcrafts.net 1984/3rd edition rewritten 11/05 for simplicity}- who re-wrote the pattern for easy understanding.


(FOLLOW DIRECTIONS JUST AS THEY ARE WRITTEN)

I use a J hook

Row 1- chain 4 join to form a ring. ch 3, (ch 3 counts as 1 dc through out pattern). work 11 dc in ring (12 dc). join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Row 2- Chain 3 1dc in same stitch and 2dc in each stitch around (24) join with slp stitch in top of Ch 3 Row 3- chain 3 *skip next stitch, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc in next st. repeat from * ending with 1 dc in base of chain 3, ch 2, sl st in top of ch 3.

Row 4- Sl st into ch 2 space, ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in ch 2 sp, *2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch 2 sp, repeat * around. Join

Row 5- Sl st into next st, ch 3, * 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in the ch 2 sp, 1 dc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, 1 dc in the next st. repeat from * around, join

Row 6- Sl st into next st, ch 3, 1 dc in next st. *2dc, ch 2, 2dc in the ch 2 sp, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, skip next 2 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, repeat*, ending with skip 2 sts, join

Row 7- St st into next st, ch 3, 1 dc in next 2 sts, *1 dc, ch 2,1dc (small shell), in next ch2 sp, 1 dc in next 3 sts, spip 2 sts, 1 dc in next 3 sts, repeat * around, ending with skip 2 sts. Join.
Row 8- St st into next st, ch 3, 1 dc in next 2 sts, *2dc, ch 2, 2 dc (large shell) in ch 2 space, 1 dc in next 3 sts, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in the next 3 sts, repeat * around, ending with skip 2 sts, sl st in top of ch 3.

Row 9- st st into next st., ch 3, 1 dc in next 3 sts, *2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc (large shell) in ch 2 space, 1 dc in next 4 sts, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next 4 sts, repeat * around, ending with skip 2 sts, sl st into top of ch 3.

CONTINUE working in round in pattern established always working 1 round with small shell, and 2 round with large shell. CONTINUE repeating rounds 7-8-9 (the number of DC will increase on each round between the "ch 2 space" and the "skip 2 sts")

For most of the Bed-Spreads I went 10 rows then switched to the next color, 10 rows, then next color Etc.( for a total of 60 rows) add trim of your choice-


#1 Trim:
I do sl st, ch 1, hdc & 1 dc in same space, skip 1 st, and sl st into next st, ch 1, hdc, 1 dc, in same st, skip 1 and repeat around


#2 Trim
You can also do a shell trim around which is truly beautiful as well/

Ruffled Scrunchie w/curl ties crochet - Brittanie

Materials Needed:
H hook
Darning Needle
Row 1: With a elastic band, attach yarn with a sc, ch 1 sc in opening of elastic band, 39 more sc in elastic band, join, (40 sts)

Row 2: ch 3 sc in same st. ch 3 sc in next st, ch 3 sc in same st, ch 3, ch in next st.* (sc, ch 3, sc ch 3 )*in next st 5 sts. - **Sc in next st, ch 45, 5 dc in 2 st from hook, and in next 8 sts, 5 dc, 1 sl st in next st, (total of 50 sts which make nice curl) sl st into next st and remaining sts. Sl st into same st as 1st ch of curl chain, st st in next st, ** repeat above. Ch 3, sl st in same st, ch 3, sl at in next st. *** sl st, ch 3, sl st, ch 3 in each st around*** Join,

FINISH OFF, TUCK IN TAILS

NOTE: You can do 60 sts then do the curl st and this works nice for 8 to 10 yr old girls

The (st) denotes whatever stitch you are supposed to make around the post such as fpdc would mean double crochet around the front of the post.



FPHDC:
Yo, insert hook from front to back and to front again around the vertical post (upright part) of next st, yo and draw yarn through, yo and complete hdc.


BPHDC:
