This pattern is over 3 yrs old. I ran across it while cleaning out my computer. I decided to share it because it hard to find a "Simple" Crochet Sweater Pattern for "Big Men" I hope you enjoy creating this Sweater & Blessings the men in your life...God Bless..{JMSQ}
Finished chest: 56"
Size I hook & Chunky yarn -{or}-
Size J or K & WW yarn
NOTE:
The sweater in photo is made of Redheart varagated WW Yarn & J hook- My DH has a big tummy, so my next sweater will be made with K hook for body & J hook for sleeves.- This sweater is great for BIG / Tall Men with long arms...{JMSQ 2005}
FRONT:
Ch 10, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 hdc)
ch 2, turn hdc in the back loop of each st across. (ch 2 counts as 1 hdc) *REPEAT last row until 43 rows of ribbing are complete*.
ch 1, turn and work 72 sc across length of ribbing.
Continue working rows of sc, increasing one st on each end of every 8th row to 84 sts.
Work even until measures 25" from beginning of ribbing.
NECK SHAPPING:
ch 1, work across 30 sts. ch 1, turn, skip first st, work across remaining 29 sts.
ch 1, turn, work across 28 sts
ch 1, turn, work even for 5 rows on remaining 28 sts. Finish Off
Skip 24 sts in center, Join yarn and ch 1, Sc across remaining 30 sts.
Ch 1, turn work across 29 sts.
Ch1, turn, work across 28 sts
Ch 1, turn, work 5 rows even on these 28 sts. Finish Off:
BACK:
Repeat as for front, ommiting neck shaping. Work should measure 28" from beginning of ribbing. Finish Off.
SLEEVES:
Ch 10, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and n each ch across (9 hdc)
Ch 2, turn, hdc in back loop of each st across ( ch 2 counts as 1 hdc) REPEAT last row until 15 rows of ribbing are completed
Ch 1, turn, work 20 sts acrosss length of ribbing
ch 1, turn, work 2 sc in each st across (40 sts)
Work even for 6 rows.
Inc. 1 st end of next row and every following 4th row until 66 sts. Work even until sleeve measures 22" from beginnign of ribbing. Finish Off.
EDGING:
Sew shoulder seams together. Join yarn at back edge. Ch 1, work 1 sc in each st across back, evenly along side nect edge, across front and across next neck edge. Join with sl st to beginning sc. Ch 1, sc in each st around, skipping 1 st at each of the 4 corners for shaping. Join to beginning sc with sl st. Repeat previous round 6 more times. Finish Off. Sew in sleeves matching center top of shoulder seam. Stitch sleeve and side seams.
