X's & O's 12" Gift Pouch Square crochet - Stephanie

                                    12" Square with center Gift Pouch

Materials needed:

H Hook or J hook
MC- main color
CB- alternating color
Rows 1-10 finish off if using J hook

Rows 1-11 finish off if using H hook


SPECIAL STITCHES:

Beg. Corner-
Sl St in corner space, ch 3, 1 dc in same sp, ch 2, 2 dc in same space (Beg. Corner Made)

Corner Made-
2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in corner space (Corner made)

X Stitch-
ch 1, sk 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, *{go around back of st just made & into the front of prev. st} 1 dc in back & into prev. st.


Pattern:
Row 1: with MC color, ch 4, join to 1st ch. Ch 3, 2dc, ch 1, *( 3dc, ch 1) 3 times more, join to top of ch 3 (4 sets of 3 dc, & ch 1 spaces)

Row 2: ch 3, 1 dc in each st to corner. In corner work 2dc ch 2, 2 dc in corner space (Corner made) Around, join

Row 3: repeat row 2

Row 4: ch 3, (WORKING IN BACK LOOPS for this round only) 1 dc in each st, work corners as usual, Join, & finish off


(NOTE) WE'LL CONTINUE TO ROW 5 AFTER WE CREATE POUCH

GIFT POUCH:

Row 1: With CB Color,1 sc in each "FRONT LOOP" of round 4 around join

Rows 2-7: ch 1, - 1 regular sc in each st around,

Row 8: ch 3, sk 1 st, 1 hdc, ch 1, in next st, sk 1, (1 hdc, ch 1, in next st, sk 1, st,)*repeat around.Join

Row 9: Sl st into ch 1 sp from previous round, 1 sc, ch 2, 1 sc in each ch 1 space around. FINISH OFF


TIE: Ch 80, weave through round 8 to tie, weave in ends


CONTINUE TO ROW 5

Row 5: Attach yarn in any corner sp, ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2,2 dc (Beg. Corner made), *ch 1, sk 2 sts, 1 dc in next st,1 dc behind dc just mad into front of prev. st (X stitch made, *Repeat 4 times, sk 2 sts, X t (DO NOT CH !), 2 dc, ch 2, 2dc Corner made)**Repeat From * Around, join, ch 3

Row 6: 1 dc in each st around, (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc (Corner made in ch 2 corner sp)

Rwo 7: sl st into corne sp, ch 3, 1 dc, ch 2, 2dc (Beg corner), *ch1 (work X st 7 imes), at nd of 7th X stitch,ch 1 dc in last st, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in corner (corner made)*repeat around, join.

Row 8: Repeat row 6

Row 9: Sl st into ch 2 sp, ch 3, 1 dc, h 2, 2dc (beg corner made) *ch 1 work X st 10 times, on last one in row, ch 12 dc, ch 2,c in corner sp (corner made)* Repeat around, join

Row 10: Repeat row 6. FINISH OFF & tuck in tails if using a J hook. If using H hooks continue to Row 11

Row 11: *1 hdc in each st, 2 hdc in each corner space *repeat around. join. FINISH OFF & tuck in tails
